Czech Dreams in Lviv: Festival of Czech-Ukrainian Partnership

Back to Ukraine, where from September 18 to 21 we will once again dream together. This time even more strongly, with a clear message – culture can open doors, heal wounds of the soul, and bring people together even in times when the world is unpredictable.
Czech Dreams in Lviv: Festival of Czech-Ukrainian Partnership is this year’s biggest event of the Czech Dreams project, and also a powerful voice of Czech music and art in Ukraine. We believe that the strong Czech-Ukrainian bond must not remain a one-off episode; that is why this cultural event becomes another step toward tradition and a continuation of what we started last year for the very first time.
The four festival days will offer a program that combines music, visual arts, discussions, and topics from other fields as well. Thursday will be dedicated to the theme of mental health. In the Mirror Hall of the Lviv Opera, the festival will be officially opened by cellist Václav Petr and pianist David Mareček; later in the evening, the Dzyga club will resonate with the Czech band Dukla and the Ukrainian formation Zapaska. Friday will feature a conference on Czech-Ukrainian cultural cooperation under the subtitle History, Present, and Future, the opening of a sound installation by Petr Válek at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, and a series of concerts, including Jan Fic, the band SAKOBI, and the Ukrainian ensemble Neyodovana. Friday thus becomes the Day of Culture. Saturday will bring gallery tours, cimbalom music by Antonín Stehlík, a performance by the band Myklukho Maklay, and a concert by Gankino Quintet, with the evening culminating in a joint jam session of Czech and Ukrainian musicians. Sunday will let the exhibitions and installations echo out – from the photography of Majda Slámová to experimental projects by Lviv-based artists.
