Czech Dreams 2024
Czech Dreams 2024
The fifth year of the pan-European project Czech Dreams will be dedicated to the presentation of Czech chamber music, both through outstanding performers and inspiring dramaturgy, which is an important contribution to the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bedřich Smetana. The dramaturgy of the project, which is unquestionably the most extensive event comprehensively presenting Czech chamber music abroad in the so-called Year of Czech Music, is traditionally based on the IMF Concentus Moraviae dramaturgy; in the long-term preparation of the Year of Czech Music 2024, the IMF was entrusted with the creation of a top-quality showcase of Czech chamber music with an emphasis on the work of Bedřich Smetana.
Czech Dreams will contribute also to cultural cooperation between European cities and regions by paying visits to cities and towns that are actively developing partnerships with their Czech counterparts, cities included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music, and to the stages of established music festivals and concert series, always outside the capitals of the host countries. An equally important part of the Czech Republic’s presentation during the Czech Dreams is also a closer introduction of the primary art schools phenomenon, which is unique in Europe.
Within the framework of the Czech Dreams 2024 project, the concerts will take place in selected European countries, in cities and towns in European regions outside the capitals of the participating countries. An important element of Czech Dreams 2024 will be the so-called Czech Weekends or Weeks in selected European cities. A model example of the format and content of these large-scale presentations of Czech culture will be the Czech Week held in Mechelen, Belgium, as part of the Lunalia festival.
